In the semi-annual reports to Congress, the OIG provides not only an overview of the work being done in the HHS programs, but the reports on their valuable work. In this reporting period (October 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022), there are expected recov-eries of nearly $3 billion as a result of the investigations and audits. While $3 billion is not a small amount, health care fraud is estimated at 10% of health care dollars spent and between $80 billion and $300 billion.
