CMS has updated the current POS code set by revising the description of existing POS code 02 and adding new POS code 10. The POS code set provides setting infor-mation necessary to pay claims correctly. At times, the health care industry has a greater need for specificity than Medicare. While Medicare doesn’t always need this greater specificity to appropriately pay claims, it adjudicates claims with the new codes. This eases coordination of benefits and gives other payers the setting information they need.
