National Government Service recently sent out a provider notification that the MAC was receiving robo-like calls from billing companies so that the billing company could show that they had followed up with the MAC on billing issues. “These types of calls do not result in additional payments for the provider and are simply used by the caller to obtain certification that they contacted the MAC, which in turn allows them to pass additional administrative costs on to the provider of service.”
