In an August CMS release, Medicare benefi-ciaries who have difficulty leaving their homes or are otherwise hard-to-reach, can receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Healthcare providers can now receive additional payments for administering vaccines to multiple residents in one home setting or communal setting of a home. Medicare will pay the $35 amount in addition to the standard administration amount (approximately $40 per COVID-19 vaccine dose), for a total payment of approximately $75 for a vaccine dose administered in a patient’s home. CMS also geographically adjusts the additional amount and admin-istration rate based on where the vaccine is administered.
